Gym Orientation & Equipment Training
A lot of people want to be active but feel unsure about how to use gym equipment correctly. Others worry about getting hurt, doing something wrong, or feeling out of place.
I offer in-person gym orientation and equipment training in Edmonds, Seattle, and nearby areas to help you feel comfortable, confident, and independent in the gym—without pressure or intimidation.
This isn’t a workout class. It’s hands-on guidance so you actually understand what you’re doing.
Note: If you’d like ongoing guidance or a customized workout plan, personal training sessions are available separately.
Safety First Training from a Licensed PTA
Using gym equipment shouldn’t feel overwhelming. As a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with over 20 years of experience, my focus is on helping you move well and stay safe—not pushing you through exhausting workouts or rushing you through machines. We take things at your pace and focus on what matters most:
Proper Setup & Mechanics
I’ll show you how to adjust machines for your body—your height, limb length, and comfort—so movements feel natural and controlled.
Injury Prevention
You’ll learn which movements support your joints and which common mistakes to avoid, especially for your back, shoulders, hips, and knees.
Confidence in the Gym
Instead of guessing or avoiding equipment, you’ll know where to go, what to use, and how to use it safely.
Who This Is For
Seniors & Active Adults
I work with many active adults and senior living communities. Sessions focus on balance, strength, and movements that support everyday life—getting up from chairs, carrying groceries, and staying independent.
Beginners
If you’ve recently joined a gym and feel overwhelmed by rows of machines, I’ll walk you through everything step by step so you know exactly where to start.
Corporate & Residential Fitness Centers
I also provide on-site gym orientations for apartment buildings and employee fitness centers, helping users feel comfortable and use equipment safely from day one.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during a gym orientation session?
We meet in person at your gym—whether that’s a home gym, community center, apartment fitness room, or local club. I walk you through the equipment, show you how to adjust seats and weights, and coach you through proper form on several foundational exercises.
You’re encouraged to ask questions the whole time.
I feel nervous or intimidated in gyms—can this help?
Absolutely. Many people I work with feel unsure or anxious in gym settings.
This session is designed to be calm, supportive, and judgment-free. The goal is to help you feel comfortable enough to walk into the gym on your own and know what to do.
Do I need to sign up for long-term training?
No. Gym orientation sessions are standalone and meant to give you independence.
Some people choose to continue with Remote Strength Coaching afterward if they want a structured plan, but there’s no obligation.
